(Collins) Blanchard, Suzanne | Jan 17, 2005 at 19:17:48 | Well, it's been awhile since my last update. I'm still married to my wonderful husband Jason Blanchard (Waterford Kettering 1987) since 1996 and we still live in Howell, MI with our dog. I'm still working as a Human Resource Manager for a plastics facility in Howell. The only big change in my life happened in February of 2003. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and have undergone 3 surgeries and several different types of chemotherapy. I continue to work full-time while receiving treatment. It has been determined that the type of cancer I have is chemo "resistant". This means it is not reponding to traditional treatments, but the one good thing is that all the drugs they have tried has not done any damage to other parts of my body. Besides having cancer the doctors have stated that I am VERY HEALTHY, which surprises them. Most people who have undergone this much chemo usually have to stop treatment due to being so ill. Over the past 2 years I've learned to enjoy every moment and not worry about what I can't control. I may not be able to control the cancer but I know I will not let it control me! I've taken on a new moto in life..."Enjoy Every Sandwich" Another thing I have learned is that no matter your age you are at risk for cancer. So just be sure to get your yearly check-ups and if you suspect anything ask your doctor and continue to ask questions until you get answers. Don't let them blow you off, you know your body better than anyone else!

In October of 1989 our first daughter, Stephanie was born. (Oh yeah, I married Jim Byers in January of 1991) Our second daughter, Ashley was born in April of 1992 and our third daughter, Whitney was born on Christmas Eve 1994. I worked until June of 1998 and then decided to stay home. We live in Elba Twp. |
(carney) byers, traci | Apr 6, 2006 at 22:16:39 | Thought it was time to update, but had to enter a new one since I can't remember my old password. It's hard to believe that it's been almost 20 years! Jim and I still live in Elba. Our girls are now 16, 14 and 11. Teenagers are great!! Yeah, right...Stephanie (the oldest) is captain of her soccer team at Lapeer West (I know, West) Ashley (the middle one) is the boss of the house and sure to be more trouble as she gets older and Whitney (the youngest) is becoming a star goalie on her soccer team. Yes, I'm officially a "soccer mom" and love it. I'm still staying at home, except now I've started a day-care. Mine grow up and I bring more in...crazy! I just finished playing on a wally-ball league and for those of you who remember Mrs. Owen, the business teacher, she was on the same league...she's still teaching at East! Hope everyone is doing great. byers_five@yahoo.com

(Rutzen)Centers, Wendy | 10/3/2002 at 12:04:27 PM | Hi Everyone! Geesh, where to start?! After graduation, I attended Ferris State for one year, decided that Ferris wasn't where I wanted to be and decided to experience life a little before finishing college. I moved to South Bend, Indiana to be closer to my Dad and worked at various jobs for awhile, and found myself a single mom of one daughter, Adrienne Elizabeth, in 1991. I realized that I should then finish college and do something with my life. I graduated with an Associate Degree from Ivy Tech State College in South Bend, Indiana. In 1994, I married, and in 1998 had another child, Austin, now 4 years old. (Quite the age gap!!). I ended up divorced in 2000, and last year moved back to Lapeer! I work at Tapco Products in Imlay City, been there for almost a year. I've ran across several of you and hope to see you at our 15th. I couldn't make our 10th, but I miss you all. It seems like only yesterday since we got to see each other every day. Please contact me if you get a chance, I'd love to hear from you!! pumpkinpiemine@earthlink.net or (810) 245-2396 if you'd like to chat!!

(Finkbeiner) Fox, Janet | Jul 9, 2006 at 08:58:44 | Hello! I am still living in Roseville, MI. We had looked into moving back to the Lapeer area, but it just wasn't feasible with my husband's job. My husband, Rob, and I have been married for almost 14 years and have four children: Christopher (11/94), Kamryn (4/98), Connor (6/00), and Carson (4/03). I have been fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home mom, but am realistic enough to know that I have four kids to put through college, so I'll need to get a job again eventually. I'm currently in school part-time working on a degree in Accounting. Once my youngest is in school, I can go back to school full-time. In the meantime, I keep busy running all of them to soccer, karate, cheerleading, etc. and being involved in their school activities and our church. It's great to see how many people from our class have posted here and what a variety of things we've all done since high school.
(Monville) Gill, Gretchen | Oct 14, 2006 at 22:58:39 | Hello All... Just stumbled on this site, and it was great to read about so many former classmates! I have been married for almost 12 years to my best friend, Mitch, and we have been blessed with very creative and spirited son, Spencer, that just turned 8 yesterday.. My my, how time flies! I love being a mom, it's fun and challenging at the same time, whew. (Think soccer, minivan, ackk) We currently live in Caro, are beginning to remodel a 96 yr old home, and trying to stay sane at the same time! We just moved here last year, but were in Lapeer for the 10 years prior to that. I met Mitch while he was doing the morning show at the local radio station, and though he is no longer in broadcast, he's still working as a freelance voice-over artist for commercial productions and event announcing. After highschool I attended CMU for a year, but it wasn't exactly a good fit, and I went on to spend 8 years in women's retail. I worked at Winkelman's for about 5 years, in store management and as a buyer at corporate headquarters, and then for Casual Corner in store management for about 3 years. When Mitch and I got married, I was able to persue a career in Art. For the past 12 years I have had my own business as a Mural artist and Decorative painter, which gives me a lot of flexiblility in scheduling, so I am able to mostly work during my son's school hours. Hoping to make it to the next reunion, (20th! how can that be??) Feel free to drop an email to say hello, and I hope that everyone is well!

(Smith) Lehman, Kristina | Mar 12, 2006 at 22:02:49 | Hi all, Well...it sure has been quite sometime! Let's see, about 19 years now. So much to tell. After graduation, attended Saginaw Valley State University; received a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, went on to work at Dow Corning Corp in Midland, then found myself working at MassMutual Ins Co. in Flint a couple years later. During that time, spent some days & hours working on myself and lost those extra 65 lbs gained as a senior in high school & college! That was my most high-lighted accomplishment during that time!! Eventually, I found myself in the Money Management / Brokerage Consulting Field working in Bloomfield Hills & Birmingham for about 10+ years. I moved to Rochester, then to Royal Oak, MI. I received my Series 7 & 63 while at Merrill Lynch in Bloomfield Hills. I was on the career path at that time, still not married. During that time, I met my husband (John) in 2000, married in 2004, and since had our 1st child in Nov 2005. We both started a little later in life and our loving it. We currently live in Royal Oak, Michigan near Shrine Church of the Little Flower (12 Miles & Woodward) - we love this area. Yes, it's walking distance to the annual Woodward Dream Cruise. Being that my son is only about 3 1/2 months, I am staying at home now to enjoy him. I have had the career for 15 years and decided to take some time off to enjoy him & my life! Eventually heading back in the workforce. Would love to see if we are having a 20 year reunion - keep in touch. klehman507@ameritech.net

Hope to hear from ya'll soon. |

(McAlpine)Riffell, Angie | 6/25/2000 at 5:46:41 PM | I have finally returned to Michigan. I graduated from Asbury College in Kentucky with a pre-med degree and a husband. From Kentucky Sam and I journeyed to Texas where I completed chiropractic school and he received his masters degree in environmental studies. We found our way back to Michigan in 1996 so that Sam could begin a Ph.D. program at MSU.(He graduated Summer of 2000!) I was always a Michigan fan, but I think that I have been converted. I own my own practice in Holt, a suburb of Lansing. I love being a doctor, but dealing with 7 employees can drive anyone batty. God recently blessed us with a baby girl, Hannah. We are sure that she is a genius because she plays Peek-A-Boo and blows spit bubbles. I love being a Mom, but I can't believe that I drive a minivan. I was at the ten year reunion and it was great to see everybody. See you at the next one.
(Jones) Robinson, Paula | Jul 13, 2006 at 22:52:35 | I graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint with a bachelor of Arts-English and a teaching certificate in 2004. As a result of the truly awful job market in Michigan and especially Lapeer, my family moved back to Waterford to be close to my husband's job at Chrysler and my substitute teaching in Clarkston and Waterford. There was nothing other than nostalgia keeping me in Lapeer, so we moved. I am happily married to Rustyn (for the last 16 years) and have two wonderfully amazing sons: Josh, 14 and Kevyn, 12.
(Blanchard)Robison, Kim | 3/4/2001 at 8:18:06 AM | Hello everyone,I work at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility, In Accounts Payable and have been working there since 1987. It's really hard to believe we all have been out of school for 14 years. It was really neat to read about thoughs of you that wrote a record.
(Brittain) Rock, Stacey | Nov 4, 2004 at 11:51:36 | Let's see...married in 1993, baby girl in 1995 (Katherine), BA in American history (OU) in 1999, baby girl in 2000 (Caroline), divorce in 2004. And, I finally found a job! I have been working for Target as a softlines exec since August, and love it. I am at the Auburn Hills store if anyone is in the area nd wants to stop in. The girls and I are still in Clarkston, with no plans to leave. I have not been able to be the super school mom that I was, but still have time to be Kate's Girl Scout leader and DI team manager, as well as play volleyball weekly. Since Rich and I have separated, I find myself with a little more time and plan to travel when I can. The girls and I started our travel itinerary with a trip to Disney World in October, and we will probably go to Philadelphia to see Spenser and his family in late January. After that, who knows? The world awaits! Is anyone volunteering to plan the 20 year reunion? E-mail me if you get a chance: rock04@comcast.net Hope everyone is happy! Stace

I worked for a limousine company in Lapeer for 6 years, then decided to go to college. I am still near Lapeer and currently working as a Medical Language Specialist in Oxford. After serving my four years as an electrician in the US Navy (including a stint in the Persian Gulf) I returned to Lapeer. | 1987 | (Gark) Stafford, Amy | Mar 26, 2006 at 18:14:11 | I have been a Senior Claims Representative for Nationwide Insurance in Virginia Beach, Virginia since 1995. I re-married in 2000 and currently live in Suffolk, VA with my husband, Joe. I have 3 children: Callie (8/91), Alexander (1/94), and Olivia (2/02). Callie is in band at Lapeer East, Alex is a future NHL'er and an aspiring artist, and Olivia is testing her talents with ballet/dance and gymnastics. Joe and I stay busy remodeling a 100-year-old victorian in the historic district of Suffolk. I am also going to school full-time to be a high school math teacher (when I grow up). I would love to hear from classmates (now that I've figured out my e-mail address here was outdated) and hope to make it to the next reunion, as I have yet to make it to any! |
(Baker)Sutton, Jill | 11/18/2003 at 3:41:59 PM | I would have been with the class of 87 but my family moved in the spring of 1985. They moved twice more after that even! Since HS, I received a BS and MS in biology and currently work managing clinical trials. I got married in 1991. We have a daughter, born in Jan 2001 who keeps us busy! Always interested in hearing what everyone has been up to since high school!

(Lothamer)Tribble, Laura | 12/24/1999 at 6:37:50 AM | I am currently married with two small kids, a boy and a girl, and am living in northern Indiana. I'm a stay at home mom who occasionally does some paperwork for my husband's trucking business. I still keep in touch with my best friend Stacey Brittain (Rock) who is lucky enough to live a little closer to home. I miss living in Michigan, but all of my family still live in the Detroit/Ann Arbor area so I am fortunate to visit with them a lot. I would love to hear the latest on what everyone else is up to so e-mail me if you can. I loved seeing so many people at the ten year reunion, but I would love to see more next time. Stacey and I are trying to help with the reunion in 2002 so if you know of other alumni that are interested, please contact either one of us. Hope everyone is doing well and that I will see you in 2002 if not sooner!!!!!

Wilson, Linda | 5/11/1999 at 5:53:53 PM | What? We really had a 10-year reunion? Was my lack of an invitation an oversight or a deliberate snub?!? Luckily, I'm not the overly sensitive-type. Anyway, I've been keeping myself busy working for BP Amoco in Toledo Ohio since my graduation from U of M in 1991. No, I don't pump gasoline at one of our nifty retail stations. I am an Environmental Specialist at the refinery, specializing in air issues. Now that I think about it, I wouldn't have invited me to the reunion either. But, really, it's more interesting than it sounds.
