I have finally returned to Florida!!!! As a Siesta Kiey native, I am so, so, SO happy to be home. An education from U of M sure has played out well for me. I am living in beautiful, sunny, southwest Florida, my home of course, and have married a wonderful west-sider (ugh!), Jason Anger. I am working for a great company, Tervis Tumbler. If anyone is ever in the SW Florida area (I know a few of you east-ers who live here) I definately have to recommend my hometown island of Siesta Key. No other place like it. Life is grand....

I now live in Rochester Hills, I have a full time job and I'm going to school at Oakland Community College. I have a wonderful boyfriend named Jeremy. I've been working out and trying to lose weight so things couldn't be better. I recently just walked and raised money for the March of Dimes. My best friend and I walked in Lapeer on April 30, 2005. Well, I hope everyone else is doing alright also.

Soon I'll be headed to my two "C" Schools in Virgina Beach, VA for communications computer networking, fiber optics, and digital gyro conversion. It is quite interesting to see what people have been up to in the 9 short years since we graduated from our lovely school. The following is an abridged version of my life since 1999. '99 started college at Oakland University. '00 Wasn't sure about college, started working in IT industry. '01 Wasn't sure about IT, went back to school with a steely determination. '03 Graduate with BS in Economics, BA in Communications. Later '03 Begin working for Volkswagen of America in the Customs Department. Even later '03 Get engaged to Stella. '04 Win a wedding and become local celebrity in Rochester for a few weeks. '05 Go back to school for Master's. Later '05 Purchase house in Orion TWP. '06 Get 2 cats-Zoe & Isabella. '07 Complete MBA and career immediately sky-rockets (i wish). '08 Have son, Lincoln Alexander on 2/24. Slightly later '08 Update my Lapeer East Alumni Page. All is well in my life. Still at VW, steadily climbing the ranks while mastering International Trade. The wife, cats, and baby are all absolutely wonderful and I enjoy every day with them.

Hello. It is nice to know that other people are entering into the grown-up world too. I guess we don't have much of a choice. I will graduate next December after completing my student teaching. I'll have a bachelor's in elementary education with two minors in science and language arts. I am really happy to see other future teachers from our class. You'll all be great. I was thinking that maybe we should start up a Lapeer East Alumni, Beginning Teachers Support Group/Network. WHat do you think? I hear the job market is tough and I don't think it gets much easier after you land a job. I thought it would be nice to have familiar faces to bounce ideas off of. I have a lot of respect for you guys. I know you're all bright and thoughtful. At least we should go out to lunch or something. Anyway, if anyone thinks this is a good idea let me know. (majaburris@hotmail.com) Does anyone know if we're having a 5 year renuion? I guess technically it is optional but I was just curious. I would be willing to help out.

Hey All, probably never thought you'd see my name on here...Well I finally got out of the food service and into something I enjoy doing AND I didn't have to go to school for it! Got married way back in '00 and I moved to Florida 3 years ago with my wife Melissa Callatree(if you read Anita Callahan's at the top, I live a few miles from her...she's my sister-in-law)after we moved down the in-laws followed. I'm now working for Sarasota County Parks & Rec as my "real" job; my "for fun" job is concert promoter/band manager/all around cool-guy. I hosted my first concert in May of '08, a two day event with 20 bands, it was Darn Swell! After that I've continued hosting concerts and I've also started managing a few bands from the area. This is what I've been wanting to do for a long time...NEVER GROW UP! Check out a couple of my bands: www.myspace.com/grimwoodmusic www.freewebs.com/nomadsofthenook Word to yer mom! t.t.

Well, I thought I would update my record, since the last bit of info. was from two years ago. I am still in college, I plan to get my B.S. in Spring of 02'. Then I am off to school again to get my Master's in Behavioral Psych. After that I will hopefully one day achieve my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Not much else is new, as the psych. curriculam is rather demanding. It seems my hard partying days are over for now!

These user names and passwords are hard to remember when you get old. I graduated college in 2003, and I am still working at GM. I live in Madison Heights now. Things aren't too bad. I can't really complain about much. I still head up to Lapeer once in a while to see the family and play hockey. Good times. E-mail me if you want to know more.

Hello, hello! I figured it was time for an update. I am back up here in Mt. Pleasant and am, again, attending CMU. I am majoring in English and minoring in Spanish and Military Science. I am heading to basic training this summer (Ft. Jackson, SC) for the Michigan National Guard and am contracting with ROTC in the fall to become a cadet. When I graduate from CMU in two years, I will be a 2LT. I will then later pick up my teacher's certification . . .

Jess and I are married we had an amazing wedding on the beach, it was perfect. I'm going to Trident on a 2+2 program to transfer to the Citadel to get my Civil Engineering bachelors. I currently work for one of the largest engineering firms in the world called Arcadis, I'm a Party Chief land surveyor for them, I've been doing it for 2 and a half years and I'm pretty sure I found my career. Jessica is a Probation/Parole officer for Berkeley County, crazy job and even crazier that my soon to be wife is the law! Jess and I couldn't be happier, we've bought the house, have a dog named Doppler and I mow the lawn once a week...life is pretty awesome right now.

Hello Last time i was in Lapeer I remembered all the roads that were once gravel nave been paved. As in Life we have all moved on from those days. I just married a beautiful woman named Carissa. We are living in Milwaukee now and will be moving next summer. I am still in the USCG, and my current Job as Operations Officer for Station Milwaukee is great, I coordinate USCG assets for marine events and VIPs. I still get to go out on the boats and conduct Marine Law Enforcement and Search and Rescue Cases. It is interesting to read about what has become of my peers. Keep up the good work and such. Hi Ya'all! This is a shout out western style to all of our "peeps." Jenny and I (Sarah) have recently decided to give up the grizzled fast paced city life and follow our hearts-- After marriage (to brothers! Yee-hah!) we are now the Fjurties sisters ! We have accepted our Mormon Fundamentalist names Panch and Herm , and have moved to the Lone Star State (Texas to all you Yankee northerners...hahaha.) We love it in Texas, and our cattle farm is booming, but we sure do miss Lapeer! Panch and I are taking part time classes in agri-business and are both expecting our first children at the end of the year. We would love to hear from ya'all!

Hi, I graduated from CMU in May 2004 with a BS in German and European Studies. I studied for almost two years in Germany, so now I'm fluent in German. Since graduating I've been living and working in Rome, Italy. I teach English to italian kids and members of the Italian air force. I have to say that I enjoy teaching the adults much more than the kids. Living in Rome is also great. I am just a ten minute walk from the colosseum and just down the street from the pyramid. There is always something to see and do here. I love the big city life! Who knows what country I will be in next year, but if anyone is ever in Rome give me a ring.

Hey all! A little late as always... Anyhow just started a business in Clinton Township, MI doing driving tests and training. I love it! I get to be a highschool kid everyday ( as I mostly train teens) . It keeps me young. Not a lot of stress, no boss ( that;s prolly the best part ) and I get to meet people from all over the globe! No kids and still single so not a whole lot to report. Hope you are all doing fine.

Currently I'm attending Kettering University. I'm majoring in computer engineering but I'm not really sure about it though. I think college is going to be fun. I have been in school for a week now and I had lots of fun already. Lots of nice people especially guys...hehehehe....I met a lot of them already...there's only 15% females at my school. The classes are hard and lots of works are required. I think I could make it. If I could handle Lapeer East High School then I could handle college.

It is so fun to read everyone's updates. It sounds like everyone is doing great! It's hard to believe that we graduated eight years ago! I teach middle school Spanish in Imlay City and am working on my Master's in Linguistics and Teaching English as a Second Language. My husband, Josh, and I are expecting our first baby on March 30th, 2008. We are super excited. We have been married for three years and are finally ready to have a little one join our family. We love to travel, especially to Europe, which is where we spent much of this past summer. We may even move overseas to the country of Slovenia. It is super tiny, it is just to the east of Italy and south of Austria. I'd love to keep in touch with everyone, I have a profile on Facebook and MySpace.

I am almost done with my first year of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at UofM-Flint-won't be done until '06 though!! Keeps me very busy and I am really lovin' it...Although the weather is dreadful, it is nice to be closer to home to see my family and friends that I grew up with.

Wow, I did not even know we had an alumni page here. It only took me five years to realize this, and I only stumbled upon it thanks to being bored and typing 'Lapeer East' in Google. Here is what is happening with me: Graduated in May 2003 from Michigan State University with a degree in civil engineering. Entered a PhD program at MSU right after getting my undergraduate degree. The professor I work under got a job at Purdue, so I came with him and am now working towards my PhD in Structural Engineering here at Purdue. I teach an undergraduate class here and also do research. I love both teaching and research and enjoy the academic atmoshpere in general. After I finish all my education (8 years when it is all said and done) I will probably become a professor or work for the United States Army Structures Laboratory. My research interest are in fire resistance of structures, blast resistance and behahvior of structures, and structural stability. Hopefully, one of those jobs will allow me to further pursue my interests. Feel free to contact me, I would like to hear from ya'all. By the way, anyone else miss chicken nugget Tuesday? That was good stuff.

I just checked out the website again and realized that i haven't updated my information in five years! So, since 1999, I attended Kalamazoo College for 4 years and graduated 2003. I am currently in my second year of dental school at the University of Michigan. I am loving it, i always thought that i wanted to be a dentist and i am so happy with my career decision. I do, however, have to study a lot ... story of my life. So, in another two years i might actually start making some money! It is also nice to be close to home and friends. Hey.How is everybody? I am doing well. I graduated in December from Central Michigan University with a BS in secondary education. My major was industrial education, and I hope to become a shop teacher. I am back in Lapeer now trying to find a teaching job. Hi Lapeer East. I go to Eastern Michigan University and am in the business program there. I can't believe how much time has gone by since graduation. It's good to hear everybody so happy. I am having tons of fun since the dreaded high school days at East. I have met a lot of awesome people and a couple not so awesome ones (but that was expected)!! This summer I will be living in Lansing and working hard so I won't be nearly as poor next year as I was this year. I have to say I had a very tough year, more so then expected, but I learned a lot, and I'm ready to jump back in for another. Take care everybody. Hi Manny... thanks for complaining with me and helping me realize that somethings just aren't as important as you think until you're on the outside looking in!!

Hello from California! I graduated from Lake Superior State University in 2005 after midstream career change with my bachelors in Nursing. I currently am working in a "Step-Down" ICU/cardiac telemetry unit and hoping to work my way up the critical care ladder at a small hospital in the central coast of California. I never saw myself living in California, but it is beautiful. The weather is always mild 60's-70's year-round, with mountains to the East and ocean to the West. I'm out here due to my Lapeer East Alumn husband, Jason Niederhauser. He is an officer in the Air Force and is stationed at Vandenberg AFB. (for more info on Jason see his 1998 class posting) We will be moving around the country every 3-4 years, unfortunely there's no AFB in Michigan- much to my parent's dismay. Jason and I still play our trumpets, we sit next to each other in the local college band- kinda feels like old times, although nothing like playing under Dobos. -Peace out!

Another year has gone by and Thor and I are having a baby. EEK/Hooray/Oh Boy or Girl! I'm still working at Guilford College (www.guilford.edu) in Greensboro, NC and Thor is currently employed as a speech therapist at a rehabilitation facility working with older adults who have strokes/brain injury/etc (sometimes I think his job is much more interesting than mine). We're thankful for work, a roof over our heads and food on our table. God bless each of you!

I make cakes for friends and family for special occasions and just entered into my first competition over the summer and won myself three ribbons, the gold ribbon, the first place ribbon, and the sweepstakes ribbon! I was pretty happy with the outcome and plan on entering into more in the future. I am still married coming up on five years and still living in Lapeer. I am currently a hot commodity since I have been studying to be the latest "boy-wonder" for chiropractic. I spent two years completing undergraduate requirements and playing NCHA hockey for Life University, Atlanta, Georgia, where we won the National Championship for 2002. I transfered to Parker College in Dallas, Texas where I share an apartment with my sister, Kristy, and her dog. I have almost completed the grueling program at Parker College, studying more than I ever thought I would, and I'm planning to return to Michigan as soon as I graduate and obtain licensure. I look forward to hearing from anyone in our class; please feel free to email me at nschafer10@hotmail.com!

Well right now I am still living in Lapeer (yeah I am a loser), going to Baker College majoring in Business Administration. I love college! You would not believe how much better it is than high school. No more getting up at 6:30 in the morning, no more attendance lady, no more prison. You have so much freedom. So remember this, when people say that high school is the greatest time of your life, ignore it. College definately is. Love you all!

I attend EMU with JWinters, JCooper, Mary Black, Jason Bright, someone I really don't like and others. I'm having a great time getting involved in as many activities as possible. Mainly hanging out in Winters and Coop's room. To the class of 2000 I say go to college and do everything possible. And get a SAM'S Club membership, it's the best $35 you'll ever spend. Someone say hi to Manny for me.later, nick

As of the summer after I graduated, I am currently involved in research at Michigan Technological university.Basically I'm just making small molecules to help build a larger molecule that i'm going to be studying with Professor Riehl, the chairman of the chemistry board. I'll also be writing the programs that control the machine with which we will be studying the molecules. I also have plans to continue this research during the actual school year and perhaps even next summer and beyond.Besides research, there's not much to do around here that I have found yet. The End of the Earth is about two miles away though, that would be interesting. :-) Lemme give any hopeful Chem majors some advice, listen to Mr. Gormley, learn everything he has to teach and chem in college will be a breeze.

UPDATE WITH REUNION INFO: The reunion will be on August 22, 2009. Here's some plans that are in the works. - Afternoon picnic/pot luck at Rowden Park in Lapeer - Evening of food, drink and dance at the Davison Country Club - I can also look into golf packages at the country club if there is interest, so let me know if you are interested! - I will look into setting up a discounted rate at the Comfort Inn in Davison or the Fairfield Inn and Best Western in Lapeer. Is there interest from out-of-towners in this or would you be staying with family? Please let me know and I'll make some calls. Also tell me where you would prefer, Davison or Lapeer? Let me know if you have any additional questions and I will keep you updated as plans progress. Wow....I haven't looked at this since 2003 so I decided it needs an update. Here's my life in a nutshell. I graduated from UM-Flint with a B.S. in Biology in 2005, M.S. in Biology in 2007. I have followed my passion of salmanders, well herps in general, that began in 2002. I currently teach at UM-Flint in the Biology Department and work at a Nature Center in my spare time. I love educating people about the world around us. Nothing compares. The other BIG part of me life is research. I have been studying salamanders since 2003 and lizards since 2005. I have found and documented a new species of salamander for the state of MI and within the next year should have the lizard I've been studying listed as a threatened species in the state. Cool stuff! I love what I do and will continue on that path.
