150- Computer Applications I- 1 Credit
This course is an Introduction to Windows 98 and real world applications for Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Database, Mail Merge, and Graphic software and features. The student will gain a working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2000 Suit of software and be able to apply them to their own personal and career uses. This is an excellent introductory course for using computers.
151- Desktop Publishing- 1 Credit
This course introduces the student to Desktop Publishing concepts. Use of graphics, fonts, color, and placement of text will be taught to enable the student to create attractive design layouts for such documents as brochures, newsletters, certificates, banners, 3-D calendars, posters, business cards, and many other non-typical documents. This is a must class for anyone interested in enhancing the appearance and design of their computer documents. Microsoft Publisher 2000 is the software primarily used in this class. This class will use the Internet, digital cameras, and scanners for assisting in producing documents.
152- Basic Internet-1 Credit
This course involves the basics of using the Internet. Browsers, search engines, Internet terminology, Internet Service Providers, etiquette, email guidelines, using reference sites, educational links, Internet safety, citing electronic resources, government resources, live audio, and useful and informative sites will be the primary focus. Acceptable use permission forms must be on file with the teacher. Weekly writing assignments will be given, therefore the ability to keyboard is recommended for this class.
153- Multimedia Presentation- 1 Credit
Students will learn how to develop multimedia interactive slide presentations using PowerPoint 2000. basic knowledge of the Internet is helpful for downloading graphics, sound, and other information. Acceptable use permission forms must be on file with the teacher. Students will do a small amount of research to prepare presentations. Students will also use digital cameras, scanners, clip art, sound recorders, and microphones to assist in preparing presentations. Learn the features of PowerPoint that most people do now even know exist. This is a great class for helping you easily make presentations for other high school or college classes.
154- Web Authoring- 1 Credit
This course will expose students to the creation of web pages, and the maintenance of the high school web site. Web authoring software will be used to create pages that contain graphics, sound, and JavaScript. Discussion topics include good page design, and web site organization and maintenance.
