Cable In the Classroom Videos - Lapeer East Library

We are currently updating our videos.  Please be advised- the video listed may not be available.    

Cable in the Classroom videos are shelved in the Lapeer East Library and are available for use in your classroom until the date shown after the description.  Teachers in other buildings can have the videos sent through the school mail.  We add to our collection daily.  If you find a video you'd like to have permanently, tell a member of the library staff; they’ll consider buying it for the library collection.  
     Classroom videos are also available in our professional collection (use the library's computer catalog) and from REMC 14 (use WebMax).   
     
NOTE:   You do not have the right to tape and show any TV program.  Talk to your library media specialist if you have questions.

Cable in the Classroom Cable in the Classroom is a $2 million per week public service effort supported by 41 national cable networks and over 8,500 local cable companies. These networks and local cable companies act as a partner in learning with teachers and parents by providing a free cable connection and over 540 hours per month of commercial-free educational programming to schools across the country.
The Arts & Entertainment Channel the Arts & Entertainment classroom for lesson plans and study guides which can be printed out for use in your classes. Also contains links to related sites, including The History Channel. Most appropriate for middle school, junior high and senior high school levels.
The Cable News Network (CNN) Educational Home Page for Cable News Network (CNN). Includes daily classroom guide to CNN Newsroom, archive of guides for several months, transcripts for programs, links to videos, and chat rooms for discussion of educational content issues.
The C-SPAN Channel rich study guides bring you valuable information about C-SPAN programs and authors. Site also includes program guides for C-SPAN programs on Congress, the courts, the executive branch, and International topics and books on history, culture, and society.
The Discovery School Educational Home Page for the Discovery Channel.  Contains listing and schedule for Discovery educational programs, well-designed study guides, and on-line video clips from highlighted programs.
The ESPN2 Sports Figures ESPN2 Sports Figures helps build bridges between a student's understanding of the mathematics and physics through sports. Lesson plans and activities are provided.
The History Channel contains study guides, "Ideas From Teachers," tips for using the programs in the classroom, and links to other related sites that deal with historical events and landmarks.

The Weather Channel Information about The Weather Classroom, 33 8-minute instructional episodes with 200 on-line text pages; electronic field trips; and other instructional resources dealing with weather and how it affects our lives.
