Mrs. Cole's Syllabus

Classroom Behavior:
  1. Students are expected to treat others with courtesy and respect.
  2. You must be seated, with pencil sharpened and all necessary books and materials, when the tardy bell rings.
  3. In science, new material often builds on previously learned material. Therefore, attendance is extremely important. All assignments must be submitted for grading on the date they are due. Make-up work, due to excused absences, is a student responsibility.
  4. Students are expected to come to class with all necessary materials. This includes a three-ring notebook, agenda, pencil or pen, calculator and the textbook.
  5. Safety practices are vital in science and must be followed. Anyone who does not follow safe practices will not be allowed to participate in the current activity and will receive a zero, which cannot be made up.
  6. Eating or drinking is not allowed in science rooms.
  7. Detention for unacceptable behavior must be served within two school days. If detention is not served, the student will be eliminated from class until the detention is served and will receive a zero for work missed.
  8. Backpacks will be allowed in class, unless they interfere with students or instruction.
  9. The school dress code will be enforced in this classroom.

Grading Policy:

  1. All grades are given on a point basis rather than letter grades.
  2. Grades will be calculated using the grading scale:
