FRENCH IV COURSE SYLLABUS

Discovering French: Rouge: McDougal/Littel: 1995

BASIC OVERVIEW: This course will cover approximately 3-4 units during this school year along with 1-2 French readers. Within each unit, there are individual lessons or leçons. Usually at the completion of each lesson there will be at least one quiz, perhaps more. At the end of each unit, there will be a unit test. Each unit test will contain information from previous units. There will also be some oral testing throughout each unit. The culture and customs of French speaking countries will be an integral part of each unit. projects will supplement the curriculum whenever possible. There will be a comprehensive semester and final exam.

Review of French III

Function:

Review of present tense verbs, regular and irregular

Review of past tense verbs; regular and irregular

Review of indirect and direct object complements

Review of the imperfect tense

Any other material students would like reviewed

Unit 8 Bonnes Vacances

Function:

Describe and discuss travel plans

Describe what you will do in the future

Discuss what you would do under a veriety of circumstances


Unit 1 Au jour le jour

Function:

Describe what people do for themselves

Describe certain aspects of your daily routine

Express feelings and changes of mood

Describe what a person looks like

Novel/Reader

To be determined based on overall class level and time of year

Unit 2 Soyons utiles

Function:

Describe what you have to do

Ask others to do certain things for you

Express opinions about situations and events

Function:

Formulate polite requests

Narrate past actions in sequence

Indicate what you would do in certain circumstances

Novel/Reader

If time allows, choose one of the novels from the above list
