Classroom Rules for Mrs. O'Leary's

8th Grade U.S. History

  1. No Candy allowed in class or beverages... I will allow water because I feel this is a healthy choice.
  2. Be on time to class.
  3. Enter the room quietly and orderly.
  4. Complete all assignments on time. It is our team's policy to help you become responsible. If an emergency happens please come in and speak with me.
  5. Bring all supplies needed for class. You need your book, pencils, colored pencils, notebook, and etc.
  6. Respect the rights of others and this classroom.
  7. As mentioned above follow all rules in the student handbook.
  8. Passes are in your agenda book and you need to bring this daily.
  9. We will research material needed for class so bring your Internet card daily.
  10. When I have a substitute I expect you to act like ladies and gentlemen... no excuses!
  11. When announcements are being given please listen.
  12. Know where our Tornado Drill and Fire Drill procedure is located and what your responsibility is!

Failure to Follow Rules will Result In:

  1. Student/teacher conference or time out
  2. Parents notified.
  3. One half hour detention
  4. Administrative referral made
  5. Administrative action

Grading Scale:

* Incomplete work will receive no credit

90 - 100% = A

A = 5 points

80 - 89% = B

B = 4 points

70 - 79% = C

C = 3 points

60 - 69 = D

D = 2 points

0 - 59% = E

E = 1 point

Course Syllabus for Mrs. O'Leary

  1. Students create a colony that follows the reading for each chapter.
  2. Students will create hands - on projects.
  3. Students will follow current events out of the newspaper.
  4. Students will give oral reports on current events.
  5. The students will crade individual and group projects.
  6. All students must follow the district curriculum.
  7. Students will write reports on the effects of wars throughout history.
  8. The students may use references from the library to help them on reports or projects.
  9. Students will work in groups frequently to help make their colony as strong as possible.
  10. Students will have to work as a tem to be successful!
